The Ermitage de la Trinité, just 10 minutes from Bonifacio's citadel, is a deeply spiritual site that is emblematic of the Bonifacio countryside.
Commonly referred to as the ‘mountain of Bonifacio’ due to its location at an altitude of 200 metres, this site offers an exceptional view of the Bouches de Bonifacio and the indented coastline of Sardinia.
A peaceful place where spirituality and serenity mingle, the Hermitage is a former monastery that invites you to meditate and marvel.
The spirit of the place is imbued with ancestral practices, initially pagan dating back to the 4th century, then followed by the establishment of an early Christian cult. Archaeological and historical research has demonstrated the presence of hermits, occupying the caves dug into the granite above a first ancient chapel, of which almost nothing remains.

Today, the site is alive with the rhythms of pilgrimages and processions during the months of June and September, when Corsicans and Bonifacians celebrate their age-old attachment to this exceptional site.
This place steeped in history, so dear to the hearts of the people of Bonifacio, is sublimated by the grandiose panorama that is revealed to every visitor over the bay of Paragan . This is where the limestone of Bonifacio rises, contrasting with the granite intensity of the Capu di Fenu coastline, with the city of the cliffs as a backdrop.
The strength of the landscape here is expressed in geological variations. This landscape is a call to contemplation.
Renowned for its rich floral biodiversity, the Ermitage de la Trinité is the ideal spot for a walk to the Capu di Fenu lighthouse. Dotted with a variety of botanical species, this walk is particularly charming at the dawn of spring, when nature wakes up and invites you to enjoy a unique sensory experience.
A sanctuary, a place of worship and traditions, a den of bandits, a land of shepherds and peasants, an embodiment of the fragile beauty of the Bonifacian landscape, the Ermitage de la Trinité is an important part of Corsica's heritage, well worth a visit and a feeling of respect.
