La D 963 qui se détache de la N 197 à l'est de Belgodère est la seule voie de pénétration dans la vallée de la Tartagine. La route grimpe au-dessus de gorges formées par la Tartagine et son affluent la Melaja. Aux grands escarpements s'accrochent des genévriers et de petits pins. Au fond des gorges, la forêt de Melaja constituée de chênes verts, de châtaigniers et de pins. La forêt s'étend sur 2643 ha, peuplée de magnifiques pins laricio, de pins maritimes et de quelques chênjes verts. Elle suit le cours de la Tartagine jusqu'à la maison forestière (altitude 717 m)

The D963 leading off from the N197 to the east of Belgodère is the only road into the Tartagine valley. The road climbs above the gorge created by the Tartagine river and its tributary, the Melaja. Juniper bushes and small pine trees cling to the steep slopes. At the end of the gorge, the Forêt de Melaja comprises a mix of holm oak, sweet chestnut and pine trees. The forest extends over an area of 2,643 hectares, some of which is covered with magnificent Laricio pines, maritime pines and holm oaks. The forest follows the course of the Tartagine river as far as the forestry building which stands at an altitude of 717m.
La D 963 che si stacca dalla N 197 ad est di Belgodère è l'unica via di comunicazione nella valle del Tartagine. La strada si arrampica sopra le gole del Tartagine e del suo affluente, il Melaja. Lungo le scarpate crescono ginepri e piccoli pini mentre in fondo alle gole, nella foresta di Melata, si trovano pini larici, pini marittimi e qualche leccio. La foresta che si estende su una superficie di 2643 ettari caratterizzata da lecci, segue il corso del Tartagine fino alla casa forestale (altitudine 717 m).
