Presentation

As if posed on its balcony of greenery on the Mediterranean, Sari d'Orcino admires the distant shore and the Castellu di Capraja, from its altitude between 350 and 460 meters. Surrounded by gardens, vineyards, orchards, citrus trees, pastures and summer pastures, Sari d'Orcino is made up of several hamlets, 500 meters to 5 km from each other. Some of these hamlets date from the founding of the village, others from its reconstruction dating from the end of the 15th century. We now know that the town has been occupied since prehistoric times. Indeed, its location, its particular micro climate and the fertile richness of the soils made the establishment of populations and easy cultivation favorable. This richness and this diversity of the flora made favorable the development of the fauna and Sari d'Orcino was rich in game of all kinds but also in the breeding of goats, sheep, pigs and cattle. For the record: The village extends over several hamlets built around two water points at the start (Canale and Marghinale) hence the current designations of Acquainsù (water from above) and Acquainghjù (the water from below), for the two main built-up areas. This is why it is said that in Sari d'Orcino water flows there in abundance and, if some streams are sometimes almost dry in summer, the underground springs and rivers never dry up.
