"Porto-Vecchio, which is also known as the Cité du Sel (City of Salt) is a hugely attractive coastal resort. The third largest town in Corsica and an important commercial and tourist centre in its own right, Porto-Vecchio boasts a wonderful setting. As you stroll through the narrow streets of the old town you will notice the remains of its ramparts which have now been taken over by local inhabitants and shops. South of the gulf, discover long beaches of fine white sand backed by extensive pine groves. Take time to explore the Forêt Domaniale de l?Ospedale, a forest at the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional de la Corse, and the departure point for a number of superb hikes. "
