Presentation

Situated near the Réserve de Scandola, Girolata is one of Corsica's emblematic sights. This small, very picturesque village has an idyllic location which is only accessible by boat (departures from Calvi and Porto). Although there is no road to Girolata, it is nonetheless possible to reach the village from the Col de la Croix, 22km north of Porto. This magnificent walk takes about 4hr there and back, following a path through the maquis. As you would expect, the village gets busy in the summer, but it is far from the image of a modern seaside resort overflowing with tourists. Wander through the small alleyways, surrounded by delightful eucalyptus trees, and admire the deep blue waters of one of Corsica's most beautiful bays. You'll quickly fall under the spell of this enchanting village. The region's status as a Parc Naturel Régional helps to conserve its flora and fauna, while also protecting it from any of the negative effects of tourism. Girolata is the perfect destination for a family day out - enjoy a boat trip, stroll around the village and swim in the bay.
