Halfway between Ajaccio and Corte, the village of Bocognano is renowned for its delightful location at the foot of Monte d'Oro, its sweet chestnut plantations and the Cascade du Voile de la Mariée waterfalls. Since 1982, the Foire de la Chataigne (sweet chestnut festival) has been held in Bocognano on the first weekend in December. Organised by the Foyer Rural U Castagnu, this festival is one of the key events of the winter, with more than 20,000 visitors and over 150 exhibitors. It is one of the oldest, most frequent and most famous fairs in Corsica, whose success continues to grow from year to year.
