Numerous appellations, including 9 PDOs

Corsica has nine Protected Designations of Origin, including a regional PDO Corse or Vin de Corse, two Cru-type designations:

AOP Patrimonio and AOP Ajaccio , five additional geographical designations: "Village" AOP Corse or Vin de Corse, AOP Corse Porto-Vecchio , AOP Corse Figari , AOP Corse Sartene , AOP Corse Calvi and AOP Corse Coteaux du Cap Corse as well as a Vin Doux Naturel designation: AOP Muscat du Cap Corse combining the terroirs of Patrimonio and those of Cap Corse.

In addition to these nine PDOs, Corsica has an "Île de Beauté" PGI and VSIGs (Vin Sans Indication Géographique/wine without GI). The Île de Beauté PGI covers all the island's wine-growing areas. It allows winegrowers to produce more personal cuvées, particularly for endemic grape varieties that are not yet included in the PDO specifications. VSIG wines represent all wines not classified as PDO or PGI. They are no less high quality.

This approach is a choice made by the winegrower who does not wish to limit himself to the constraints of the standard regulations.
