Interview with Alexandre and Cinzia: Mountain guides
A Partnership at its Peak: Creators of walking routes.
Discovery, adventure, conviviality, cooperation, stress management and pushing oneself to the limit. These are the core values of this young company that specialises in outdoor sports. Its founders have turned their passion into a business. From the summit of the Paglia Orba to the beach at Saleccia, they can expertly adapt to the needs of their client, whatever level of experience they may have.
Hello. You are both state registered mountain guides. Could you please tell us a little bit about your company?
Alexandre: We started out in Castagniccia and our partnership came about because we are two professionals that shared the same passion for outdoor sports. We are on the ground throughout the year, exploring Corsica using every possible means; on foot, on snowshoes, on mountain bikes, by kayak… even underwater.
We complement one another and make a dynamic team:
- 2 passionate mountain guides.
- 8 years’ experience in mountain environments.
- 300 days per year on the ground.
- 200,000 m of climbing every year, whether for professional or personal reasons.
I myself am a state registered mountain guide, qualified to use snowshoes and mountain bikes, and I am the tour technician of the team. My specialist subject? Geology.
Cinzia : I am also a state registered mountain guide, qualified to use snowshoes and mountain bikes. In addition to this, I am a certified outdoor sports instructor with a STAPS sports management licence. I am the outdoor sports instructor of the team, the children’s specialist. I have been taking part in sport intensively since I was very young: mountain sports, martial arts, cross country running and even parachuting! After studying for a BTS in environmental studies, I fell in love with Corsica and decided to come and settle here in order to pursue my sports studies at the Faculté de Corte where I earned a BE d’AMM diploma that has allowed me to turn my passion into my job.
Can you talk to us about what you offer your customers and about how people can join your tours?
We are not talking about haute couture, but all our trips are made to measure, specially tailored to suit your needs. We specialise in these tailor made trips, and we only take out private groups, except during our winter one-day walking tours. These are organised every Sunday, throughout the winter, from 1st January onwards. For more information about these you can go to our website and check out the "randos raquettes" page.
