Marianne and Vincent...

Marianne Suzzarini and Vincent Andriuzzi, passionate about teaching, promoting and providing apprenticeships in the Corsican language, form a complementary duo at the helm of association U Pinziglione.

Teachers of both Corsican language and maths, Marianne and Vincent have invested in the service of the culture and welfare of the language, organising ‘immersion days’ on which you can find out what level you’re at in the language.

Tell us a bit about your organisation.

U scopu maiò hè di mette in cummunu cumpetenze, travagliu è ingeniu per articulà prugetti. Ma vie, lochi è forme d’impegni ci ne hè tanti è più !
A noi ci primureghjanu scontri umani è pedagugia. L’arnesi chè no prupunimu sò diversi cum’è cunferenze, publicazione, traduzzione mà sopratuttu ghjurnate immersive chì u bagnu linguisticu ci pare esse a manera a più naturale per acquistà una lingua.
 

The approach of U Pinziglione is above all educational, focused around meetings and exchanges. It aims to promote, defend and disseminate the Corsican language through a variety of actions, sometimes a little out of the ordinary. We work with public authorities, training centres and companies, and also oofer your member language immersion days.

Explain the principle of your immersion days

U Pinziglione doesn’t only promote the discovery of a place, but also exchange and interaction within it, to allow better language learning. This is an active teaching method, allowing the pupil to build their knowledge with the help of devices. We source people who can get the conversation going, guide-speakers who contribute historical perspectives, and native speakers who highlight their profession, passions and savoir-faire. The days are for people wishing to learn, improve or practise their Corsican. Starting off in the form of a visit helps pupils adhere to what they learn thereafter.

WHAT'S THE GENERAL FEELING THAT PUPILS HAVE BY THE END OF THE DAY ?

Prima di staccacci, a dumanda chì rivene sempre hè di sapè quandu serà a prussima surtita !

At the end of the immersion day we have ‘chjerchju di u parè’, an open ‘circle’ during which the group can share their thoughts about the day. In general, participants are very satisfied, expressing the progress they believe they have made, and the pleasure of the day’s meetings and discoveries. This framework of exchanges is a memorable part of the day for them, when Corsican language is omnipresent.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU ?

Per noi, sta dimarchja di l’associu ghjè a seguita di un impegnu per a lingua chì dura da poi anni è anni. Ch’ellu sia à u livellu prufeziunale, culturale o assuciativu. Simu cuscenti chì e nostre azzione un’ basteranu per salvalla mà simu persuasi chì stu travagliu hè impurtante per a presa di cuscenza.

For us it’s continuing with our respective career choices, which have stuck for a long time. It’s also being able to be public decision makers who can structure initiatives for the defence and promotion of the Corsican language. In our opinion, this is a truly valuable activity that benefits Corsica as an island and society as a whole.
