Roadtrip in Corsica: One week to discover Upper Corsica
A one-week itinerary in Haute Corse, during which you will cross various seaside and mountains landscapes. You will find advice and suggestions for a successful road trip. Note that distances in Corsica are not counted in kms but in time. These distances are given as an indication because you will find many reasons to stop along the way!
Day 1 Bastia arrival at Bastia Poretta airport

Drive to Corti in the late afternoon (45 min from Aléria)
Dinner and night in Corti, make your choice on the site of the Tourist Office Centru di Corsica among the various accommodations. Take advantage of the Place Paoli and its numerous cafés and restaurants and enjoy a little rest.
Day 3 Corti ½ day

After a night's rest, discover Corti, the former capital of Corsica as well as a student town. You will notice that everything here recalls the Father of the Corsican Nation, Pasquale Paoli. Street names, statues, commemorative plaques, you are in the Paoline City.
Discover the city: the Cours Paoli, its numerous cafés and restaurants, its stores and its finger-licking stalls. Climb into the old town by the "sculiscia" and discover its cobbled streets, its churches and its citadel. Take your car for a discovery of the Restonica valley
Tasty idea: Taste the migliacci, a salty speciality made from sheep's cheese
Culture idea: Don't miss a visit to the Corsican museum located in the Citadel (entrance fee: 5.50 €)
Extra Tip: With a 360° view of the city. Climb to the belvedere at the foot of the Citadel, which overlooks the city and the Restonica valley.
Day 4 Calvi - L'Isula

Idleness idea: Enjoy an aperitif with Corsican flavours on one of the city's roof tops while contemplating the sunset over the bay of Calvi, bask on the pretty sandy beach accessible from the city centre of Isula
Shopping idea: In Calvi, stroll along Wilson Boulevard and the Rue Clémenceau (pedestrian street) and treat yourself to must have pieces for your wardrobe. You can also stroll along the flea market on the Place des Platanes in Isula and find yourself a unique piece!
Cultural idea: All year round, discover the Citadel of Calvi and its Powder Magazine with an audio guided tour suggested by the Tourist Office of Calvi Balagne (Rental price of the audio guide 7€ Ad / 4€ Enf subject to change)
Tasty idea: The covered market of Ile-Rousseand its stalls of Corsica products, let yourself be tempted by a Corsican speciality offered in the numerous food stores of the two Balanine towns.

Day 5: San Fiurenzu by the Agriates Desert
(approx.1h from Ile Rousse)

From Balagne, reach the Nebbiu Conca d'Oru and San Fiurenzu region, crossing the Agriates desert. This territory composed of very dense scrubland is protected by the Conservatoire du Littoral. In spring, it is a festival of colours and smells which are offered to you. Some viewpoints overlooking the sea will be the occasion for very pretty photos
Tasty idea: Attend the return of the fishing boats and enjoy the best fish in town in one of the restaurants located on the marina
Idleness idea: For your aperitif, take a seat on the terrace of the Place des Portes and watch a game of Petanque (silver balls or boules) in the shade of the plane trees.
A change of scenery: Depending on the season, take a jump in a cab boat on one of the two most beautiful beaches of the region, Saleccia and Lotu. Crystal clear and shallow waters. Approximately 20€ return trip
Overnight stay in Saint Florent or in a nearby village, make your choice on the website of the Nebbiu Conca d'Oru Tourist Office
A few kilometers from San Fiurenzu, take a break in one of the most famous vineyards of the island: the AOC Patrimoniu
Visit cellars and tastings (very often free) and discover the wines of Corsica
Day 6 Cap Corse - U Capi Corsu

In order, visit Nonza, its plunging view on its black sandy beach, its tower, Canari and its 17th century bell tower, Pinu, its convent and its Scalu navy, Centuri and its lobster fishermen, Macinaghjiu starting point of the "sentier des Douaniers" (customs officers' path), Erbalunga and its immersed tower... A road trip in itself, U Capi Corsu is full of treasures and exceptional viewpoints.
Unusual idea: A few kilometres from Bastia, stop at the church Notre Dame de Lavasina and visit the museum of Ex-voto
Timeless idea: At the Scalu navy, stop at the small bar with its special atmosphere...
