Seaside fishing, follow the guide!

River, pond or sea fishing is practised in a variety of ways on the island. Discover an activity, secret spots and, above all, share your knowledge of how to catch a fish at the bend in a cove, fight to secure your catch and release it with respect.

The sun was still shy, hidden by the surrounding ridges, when Jean-Christophe parked his vehicle and started to get equipped. Rod in hand, he heads for the coast to share his greatest passion with his customers. In just a few minutes, this guide and fishing instructor reaches the rocks of the wild coast of Pevani and takes the opportunity to distil a few secrets about the area, the sea and, above all, the fish.

From his jacket pocket, Jean-Christophe takes out a small box filled with hooks and artificial bait. He equips his rod with a fish-shaped lure. It's a wise choice for the fishing he'll be doing today. He wanted to show off one of the island's most representative fish.

A catch that many fishermen try to obtain, the denti, a fish averaging fifty centimetres in length and classified as vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Catching fish is not an end, but rather the icing on the cake. Fish are treated with respect and handled with care. Without being injured, it will swim away after fighting the angler.

The idea is mainly to discover places and techniques.

Each lure requires a different touch and a different way of handling the rod and attracting the prey. Most of the time, the hook is returned empty. Corsica is self-sufficient and the discovery of the countryside makes up for the lack of bites.

Repeatedly, and in turn, the bait is cast towards the horizon.

The fish won't bite, but the fishing techniques will be memorised.

Whether at sea or in the river, the discovery trips are made according to the season and the mood of the moment.

You can also discover the people and culture of these places as you float along, for a different approach to the island and its treasures.

RIVER WALKS

While most people go there to swim, many anglers ply the shores of the island's rivers in the right season to tease out the trout. With worms, moths or even flies, they head upstream in search of adventure and sport.

A few seasoned anglers guide amateurs and novices alike as they discover this special sport, a mix of hiking and fishing where you need to be discreet and observant.
